Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a persistent dry cough for couple months now. Just feels like something tickling my throat but the cough is annoying & worrisome. Pain in the right side of my jaw into my ear and along down under my eye and tingling sensation in right nostril have been progressively getting worse over the last 3 days. I haven t been coughing as much but I, just this morning, found a protrusion inside my mouth (not visible outside, only redness is present) but this protrusion is literally on the inside of my throat, past the jawline. I m feeling MUCH worse today than yesterday and I m worried I may need to go to the ER. No history of throat problems other than I DO still have my tonsils. This protrusion is very painful to touch & my whole right side is becoming constant pain, no longer only when I try to swallow
As per your query you have dry cough and pain in the jaw which seems to be due to chest infection/ chronic upper respiratory tract infection or acid reflux. Bruxism or over opening of mouth can also cause jaw pain. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles. You should visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get paranasal sinus x-ray done along with throat swab test and blood tests and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Take proper course of antibiotics. Avoid oily and spicy food. Avoid wide opening of mouth. Doctor may refer you to gastroenterologist for acid reflux or to dentist for TMJ problem.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
