What Do Elevated D-dimer Levels In Blood Indicate?

I have had several D-Dimer tests done within the past two months. They all showed that my d-dimer tests were amazingly high 3.38 EACH. My doctors (cardiogists, pulmonary doctors, family doctor) did extensive tests on me such as pulmonary function, cat scan, xray, catherer and VQ scan to check for blood clots. They all came out negative. I have this breathing problem. Are there other causes for my D-dimer test to be this high? Please let me know. YYYY@YYYY

hi,
I have gone through your problem,D-Dimer levels are usually increased when there is thrombus (blood clot) but does not specify where or which organ.Your doctors would've rule out all major causes involving heart, lung, blood. However sometimes rare vasculitis or connective tissue disease and cancers also cause elevation in D-Dimer levels.I would suggest you not to worry has major causes have been ruled out t,just have regular followup with your doctor .
