What Do Elevated PSA Levels Indicate?

Thanks, I have just found out that my PSA has increased from 2.5 to 4.9 and that makes depressed because I was given Ciproxin and Tamsulosin, I keep taking the Tamsulosin every day from the last six months I was diagonised. pls you tell me what to do

Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic. PSA is a polypeptide produced by the pancreatic cells. It reflects the prostate mass and is elevate both in benign prostatitic hyperplasia and malignancy. It can also be elevates during bouts of urinary tract infection and prostatitis. It can also be elevated after a digital rectal examination. Hope this information helps. A better indicator of BHP progression could be whether your urinary symptoms are getting any better or not. A urologist consult could prove good
