What Do Enlarged Bumps On The Back Of The Throat Indicate?

I have what appears to be a canker sore on the back left side of my throat and now my ear is starting to hurt and feels like there is drainage or something trying to come out of it. I looked in the back of my throat and noticed a bunch of enlarged bumps on the back of my throat. Should I seek medical attention?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have bumps in throat which is due to upper respiratory tract infection. First , it could be tonsil stone that is tonsiliths which are formed when this trapped debris hardens, or calcifies. This tends to happen most often in people who have chronic inflammation in their tonsils or repeated bouts of tonsillitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may remove the stones and prescribe antibiotics . In some cases tonsillectomy is needed. For now do warm saline gargles which help in removing stones. Do warm saline gargles and maintain complete hygiene.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
