What Do Eye Floaters And Distorted Vision Indicate?

Hi, a couple ofrom months ago I had a shower of floaters- like a swarm of fly s. I had an eye examination at the eye clinic and they said all was fine. After that, I kept noticing the floaters more. I kept having check ups and each time the eyes were fine. Last week my right eye gave a vibrating sensation and afterwards I noticed a black blob in my eye for a few moments. A couple of days later I had a black dot accompanied by a distortion in vision. It was only momentary. Again, I ve had a check up at the eye clinic and they say the back of my eyes are fine. Since then, I ve noticed that when I read, bits of words and occasionally whole words go missing for a second. I ve had this before but not so persistently. I ve been checked so many times that I feel weird going back (my last exam was a few days ago). They seem to think this is related to my migraines. Should I be worried?

Hi. No you shouldn t be worried. What are eye floaters anyway ?

They often look like: little darkish spots or specks, threads or strings, or
Fragments of cobwebs
They’re little bits of debris floating around in your vitreous: the jelly-like filling of your eyeball that helps keep its shape. Sometimes, as these floaters move around, they cast shadows on your retina. This is what you see and most of the time, age-related changes in your vitreous are the cause of eye floaters.
Most eye floaters don’t need to be treated. While learning to cope with them costs some time and frustration, many people are able to ignore them more easily over time.

When floaters are so large or so numerous they impair your vision, your eye doctor may recommend surgery or laser therapy to remove them.
