Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is away at college and contacted us today regarding a dizzy / fainting spell he had while swimming. He got himself out of the water and said he almost looked drunk as he walked to the edge of the pool. He was concerned enough to contact us and this has happened on 2 other occasions.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your son has fainting spells which is caused by inflammation within the inner ear sometimes due to infection , meniere's disease , benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, acoustic neuroma , sinusitis and multiple sclerosis . I suggest you to consult with ENT specialist for proper checkup so that there will not be any further complication . Doctor may order certain test like CT scan , blood test , audiometry test and rotatory chair test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe anti emetic drug , sedatives , antibiotics , decongestants ,drain sinus and some ear aid. For now avoid bending forward , take steam , drink ginger tea thrice a day and do light exercises daily like meditation and yoga .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
