What Do Flashes Of Lightening In Eye While Having Glaucoma Indicate?

My father is 76 years old and has a history of glaucoma. He stated today that his eyes made it look like it was snowing with flashes of lightening intermittently mixed in. He called his local eye doctor with no response yet and is just waiting at home. I have encouraged him to go to his local er and not wait to long. Any idea what this could be and what we should be doing?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the flashes of lightening in the eye while having glaucoma suggests that there is possible issue with retina or intra ocular pressure. It is best recommended to visit to an ER for best possible evaluation and further guidelines to prevent further damage of vision.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
