What Do Floaters In The Eyes Indicate?

Hi. Last night I started having redish brown floaters in my left eye. I also noticed flashes of light in my peripheral vision which I attributed to light hitting my glasses. Called my Dr this afternoon and he refereed me to an ophthalmologist which I called and have an appointment at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon. Tonight my wife had me remove my glasses and I still was having the light flashes. My question should I wait for Dr appointment or should I go to the ER tonight. Typically can the ER do anything, or will I need to wait for a specialist?

Hello,

It is linked to the degenerative condition of the retina. Fundus examination has required a search for hole tear and peripheral detachment. Consult the retina surgeon may require rays for sealing peripheral detachment to avoid imminent detachment. You should wait for a specialist for examination and advise on treatment it is definitely denaturation of the retina.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
