What Do Fluctuating Blood Pressure Levels Indicate?

My mom was in the hospital because her BP was low and passed out. She was discharged and they told me if her systolic went above 130 to don t give her the BP medicine. I took her BP now and it is 137/69 and pulse is 104. That doesn t make sense to me, should I try changing the batteries? Thank you. Janet YYYY@YYYY sorry I am not paying for this.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there I have read through your question and would like to advise you to monitor her blood pressure regularly for atleast one week. Make sure to take the blood pressure in the left arm in the sitting position. Also if you are taking the blood pressure in an electronic machine make sure that it is calibrated as some times it may give false readings. If her blood pressure shows fluctuations then you should consult her physician for review of her antihypertensive s. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
