Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My granddaughter started kindergarden this past week, she is 5. She has never experienced nose bleeds before but 3 out of the 5 days at the school when it was nap time, they lay on mats on the floor, she has experienced nose bleeds. Very stange. She lives in Charleson SC Any ideas what may be causing this? could it be radon gas or possible a reaction to the new mat she is using?
If the nose bleeding was only one episode, then could be related to trauma. Perhaps other children might have hit her on the face and nose while sleeping on the mat, causing her nose to bleed.
If the nose bleeding episodes will keep repeating, then, should check it further for possible:
- Anemia (complete blood count)
- Levels of vitamin C, D, calcium and
- The status of the nasal mucosa
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
