What Do Hallucinations And Confusion In An Elderly Person Indicate?

My mother is 80 years old she wasn t able to get around by herself. She laid in her recliner chair for the last few years after my father pasted away the only time she got out of that chair was to go to the bathroom and back. This last Christmas she fell a couple times to go to the bathroom. Then she was not able to walk so she laid in her chair and my sister got her adult diapers but she was only able to change them twice a day. My mom had a sore on her bottom who knows for how long that was there. January she became unresponsive. They called 911 the ambulance was in the drive way for 1/2 hour. At ER she was on a breathing tube and not expecting to live. She lived though everything now she is in a nursing home and is having hallucinations and confused thinking. I don t know if that is caused by the pain pills she is on or what. How can we help my mother?
