What Do Heart Palpitations With Normal Stress Test Indicate?
Hi, I am a 30 year old active male. Over the past month or so, I ve experienced fluttering on a regular basis. I had a complete stress test done last year with my cardiologist and everything came out fine. Not to mention, the other EKG that was taken several months later that also came out fine. I usually get the fluttering after consuming caffeine, when I m anxious or overwhelmed, or stressed. Anything to worry about? Thanks
I can understand your concern. Sudden onset palpitations and fluttering which get aggravated after intake of coffee could be the symptoms of anxiety. You have underwent cardiac tests like EKG, stress tests and all came normal so we can easily rule out any cardiac cause. So no need to worry if we consider heart problems. So most likely cause of your symptoms is anxiety. Anxiety may present with non specific symptoms like abrupt onset episodic palpitations. Visit a psychiatrist for detailed help and evaluation. Medicines like Propranolol if used on SOS basis can help to reduce the symptoms of palpitations and can help in anxiety. If symptoms persist even after that SSRIs can be used. Visit a psychiatrist for help.
Thanks, I hope this helps. Take care
