What Do High Bilirubin Count In Urine And Lower Abdominal Pain Suggest?

Husband has been having lower abdomen pain. He thought it was possible hernia as he had hernia surgery when he was a child. Pain has persisted and now feels it on his side as well, especially when laying on his side. Went to the dr. and he ordered blood work. It showed a high mucous count in his urine and high bilirubin count. Dr. ordered an ultrasound. Any thoughts on what he might be dealing with?

Hello

Thank you for posting at HCM.
Small amounts of conjugated bilirubin is present in the urine. If its high, then its called bilirubinurea, a condition pointing towards possible liver or pancreatic pathology.

In order to diagnose the actual clinical disease, a thorough clinical examination including checking for jaundice, pathological examination for LFT, KFT, Sr Amylase, Sr Lipase and a USG Abdo Pelvis along with CT Abdomen is required.

Your physician will order above investigations after he has the report from USG Abdo for confirming the diagnosis.

Hope to have answered your query.
