I m 47, female, 5 6 . I had to have my hip replaced 2 years ago. My recovery was great and I ,m totally mobile now. Before my surgery I put on about 50 pounds. Now my legs (have gotten progressively worse), get huge indentations (about 1/2 inch) when ever any pressure is applied to them. even just loose socks. WHat could this be caused from ?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Varinder's Response
Hello,
Get your cardiac function checked by ECG and chest x-ray. Also, get your blood pressure checked.
The indentation on swelling is pitting edema. It is usual to indicate a cardiac problem.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Varinder Joshi
