Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
So here goes..... I have a indentions in my right upper buttock with skin discoloration of white. It happened overnight. It does not hurt. Its about 1 by 1 1/2 there s no piticular shape (maybe circular) but looks like it might have a crossing lines at the bottom..never had any injections of any kind in the bottom..no injuries. No falls..I can fit my thumb in the area..went to my family physician and he thinks its from a steroid injection. (except I haven t had any ever) then his next professional opinion some fat has melted away, but I would have noticed that. Im 5 foot and weigh 110 pounds...so anything melting off my body...I would notice. (Its a hole in my body...like bone or large mass was just taken out ), then So my physician is sending me to a general, plastic surgeon for their profession opionion...Im more concerned with making sure whatever this is ..is not harmful..not interested in fixing it if there s no need to, healthwise, not wanting to have any surgeries)
General & Family Physician, Dr. Varinder's Response
hii ...your doctor second opininon is correct if we consider the facts that have no history of any injection or boil or injury there ...he is right that fat has melted away ...he means to say that the fat tissue has decresed there ..anyway you can not see fat tissue melting as it is not like candle melting and fat melt like a liwuid and it will not drain outside ...fat melting may be precipated by any pressure or injury which is forgotten by you ...if you are not having any problem at that site ...just ignore it ...or if you cannot ignore then for plastic surgeon or get MRI that will clear your doubt
