What Do Itchy Large Insect Bites On The Body Indicate?

Several large bug bites on my son. Wondering why they are so big? He's almost 5. Don't seem to bother him other than ichy this morning. We used benydrl lotion and he seems fine. I'm just freaked out cause they seem so big. What should I use, what should I be concerned in watching for. We think they are spider bites. He hasn't been outside. Thanks.
