What Do Itchy Rashes On The Body Indicate?

hello.. i have had a rash for over four years, i am looking at all my meds to see side effects. my rash is very itchy, bleeds easily when i scratch, is all over my body but most often by where bone meets skin like ankle knee elbow, etc. dermatologists just tell me it is dry skin and i disagree with that. my last one that became apparent, itched and i scratched it was in my lower head under hair. certainly not where it would be considered dry skin. it is so painful, connected maybe to nerve and muscle. my blotch on my lower left leg is about three inches by two and pain by just touching or hitting it. itches all the time. i had surgery for skin cancer on right leg lower section and they now are just as itchy as my problem itches aread. I take, Amlodipine losartan torsemide metoprolol crestor paroxetine and two nebulizer med, Albuterol Ipratropium and Budesonide end of statement. my computer is not working right now because of a virus. i am at someone else s computer. my normal e mail address is YYYY@YYYY

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

There are various reasons for chronic rash appearance as
- immune-mediated mechanics
- low immunity
- allergy
- recurrent viral or fungal, bacterial infection
- drug induced
- others.

The drug-induced rashes can be evaluated by alternate cessation of the current drugs for a particular period of time.

Rest of the issues have to be evaluated by in person examination, a series of lab tests and if needed skin biopsy to evaluate for the presence of a type of underlying antibodies, which will be diagnostic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
General Surgeon
