What Do Itchy Rashes On The Body Indicate?

I need assistance with a rash. I am trying to determine if I need to go in to see a doctor. My symptoms: I am a 41 yo female, I have a rash that is very itchy. It started in the crook of my right elbow, spread to the back of my right hand and wrist, r fingers, face - both sides by eyes - neck, scalp upper abdomin, shoulder. They are small patches. Some are even a single raised bump. Some itch some don t. Some itch after they have been there for a day or two, some immediately. Once they itch it is intense. It does not weep. There are not blisters. I had some light headedness the first day I noticed the rash. I have not eaten anything new, changed routine, added anything new of any kind. No fever, sore throat, or joint pain. No cold. No fleas, lice, bedbugs, etc. And the kicker? Some spots blanch and most do not. They are red, like poison ivy, but do not weep. I have had poison ivy enough to know that is not it. Thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Your symptoms seem to be related to an allergic reaction.
Some advice that I can give to you are:

-use antihistamines daily for a week
-use calmine lotion for local relief
-If you don't get better in a few days you should take prescribed corticosteroids.
You should consult your doctor about this treatment.

If you feel breathing difficulties you should go to the emergency room for further evaluation and treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
