What Do Itchy Rashes On The Neck And Cheek Indicate?

I have developed a red itch rash on my neck and cheek area since taking Azithromycin 500mg for the last 2 days.. I am allergic to sulfa. Does Azithromycin have any sulfa or sulfa derivative in the capsule. Mary Jo

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The Azithromycin drug does not contain sulfa derivative. But the reaction is definitely due to the drug, so you are sensitive to Macrolide antibiotic as well as sulfa.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel
