Hi & Welcome to HCM. It's suggestive of Intrahepatic cholestasis (accumulation of excess of bile acids in the blood) of pregnancy. It's a reversible type of hormonally influenced condition which frequently develops in the late second or early third trimester of pregnancy. She is advised to consult an obstetrician for possible use of Ursodeoxycholic acid which helps decrease the level of bile in her bloodstream, relieves itchiness and may reduce complications for the baby. She may also need oral antihistamines along with the above medication to alleviate itching. symptoms. Besides medications she can also get benefit from: 1. Soaking itchy areas in lukewarm water 2. Warm baths, which seem to lower the intensity of itching 3. Icing a particularly itchy patch of skin. Hope the suggestions given above would be useful.
