Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just received my blood and urine test results. My urine was described as cloudy/abnormal. WBC Esterase was 3+, Occult Blood was 1+. Nitrite, Urine was Positive Abnormal, and WBC was 11-30 abnormal. Does this indicate I may have an urinary tract infection. I do not have any symptons. I wear a pessary. Would that possibly cause me to have more vaginal discharge, thus affecting my scores. My specimen was reflexed to a urine culturs. Result 1: Escherichia coli was abnormal. Thank you for your time. Kristie
Hi Kristie, Thank you for choosing HCM. Your test result of urine routine, microscopy and culture says that you have urinary tract infection. Since WBC esterase is positive with 11 to 30 abnormal and presence of occult blood indicates that your urinary tract mucosa has been infected. Since the culture reveals organism Escherichia coli, that is the organism causing the infection. You could have got the infection itself by wearing vaginal pessary. You need to get it treated and for that you need to choose appropriate antibiotics. It is better to get the sensitivity profile of your urine sample to choose appropriate antibiotics. Drink plenty of water and citrus fruit juices in the meantime. Hope the information provided would be useful. All the best.
