What Do Nausea And Pain In The Base Of The Skull Indicate?

I wake up with nausea, pain base of skull, fatigue, headaches, my neck cracks right at the base of the skull - especially when turning head to the right, and also ringing in the ears(right worse and both getting worse) . I had a lipoma removed from area, but that was not the issue. Lymes came back negative 2x. MRI was good, with very mild DJD at c5-6. This is all right at the base of my skull. I can wake up in middle of night with the pain and nausea. Vision seems okay. My two youngest boys were both diagnosed with pseudo tumor cerebri at ages 11 and 13. They have VP shunts. Something is really wrong with me and I am not getting any answers. I know it is not stress, I wake up with these symptoms almost all the time. I have no stress, but this is really worrying me. My wife is noticing how sick I have been. Please help with any advice.

hi sir/madam,
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.

One very common cause of tension headaches is rooted in the neck, resulting from muscle tension and trigger points.

At the base of the skull there is a group of muscles, the suboccipital muscles, which can cause headache pain for many people. These four pairs of muscles are responsible for subtle movements between the skull and first and second vertebrae in the neck. The suboccipital muscles commonly become tense and tender due to factors such as eye strain, wearing new eyeglasses, poor ergonomics at a computer workstation, grinding the teeth, slouching posture, and trauma (such as a whiplash injury).

Pain from the suboccipital muscles commonly feels like a band wrapping around the head. Also, tension in these muscles may cause compression of a nerve that exits the base of the skull, and trigger pain that wraps over the head and above the eyes.

By doing Yoga and Meditation you can have excellent results to overcome these.

Hope i was helpful.
Have a healthy day.
