What Do Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Toes Indicate?

5 days ago, I had surgery to repair a hammer toe and my big toe that was immobile due to arthritis. Those two toes are still mostly numb and when I stand, I have a rush of pain to the foot. It will last for about 10-15 minutes. Besides the pain, it also feels really tingly, but in a painful way. Is this typical?

Hi

Greetings from HealthcareMagic!

It is very ice that you had asked the question in a clearly by giving accurate history.
Regarding pain, as you had gone for surgery, internal healing of soft tissue may take some time. Up till then you may be having some pain. Regarding tingling sensation, during surgery some nerve ending (nerves supplying foot) will be damaged which is very common. So the areas of body supplied by that nerve endings will have numbness and tingling in a painful way. These symptoms will get better with time.
If you feel more discomfort, you can use pain killer, B complex vitamin tablets and Neurontin tablets

Take Care!
