What Do Pain And Stiffness In The Neck Indicate?

I am having neck stiffness and some pain with certain movements. Usually, the pain is a dull ache, but with some movements is sharp. I find it difficult to turn my head to look at things on my left or right. The symptoms started about 3-4 weeks ago, were mild at first, but have gotten progressively more pronounced. It started on the right side of my neck, and now has spread to the left side also.

hi sir/mam,there are 2 to 3 probable diagnoses that explain your symptoms.firstly,it can be a neck vertebral joint arthritis or cervical spondylosis.with MRI SCAN,it can be confirmed. though not that common but let me mention the next i.e;TB of cervical spine.of course it is usually associated with other symptoms like fever, severe fatigue, cold abscess.dont worry your symptoms mostly fit cervical spondylosis.treatment for spondylosis includes rest, analgesics with muscle relaxants.analgesics like aceclofenac, ibuprofen can be used.but they are not recommended for those >60yrs and those with kidney disease.tramadol with paracetamol combination is safer.muscle relaxants like chlorzoxazone or thiocolchiside can be used.once the pain gets better, you can go for physiotherapy.any other issues, kindly do write to us.thank you.take care.bye.
