Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yes hello, I had what I thought was a yeast infection and I bought the Monistat 3-day, after the first day of using it and the cream I noticed a few blister like bumps, I didn’t thin anything of it and continued to use the cream and capsules , the next day I had an extreme amount of blisters, I stopped using it and didnt use the 3rd day of the treatment but I am still having more blisters and I don’t know what to do they are extremely painful.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Painful blisters on skin after applying Monistat is looking like due to the ongoing infection and not due to Monistat. It looks like bacterial infection and need proper investigation like a blood test and microscopy of scraping or discharge from the lesions. It will help in confirmation of the cause and appropriate treatment can be done accordingly. If bacterial infection is confirmed, you can be advised antibiotics to be taken orally and topical application. For now you can apply Lidocaine gel to reduce pain and also apply antiseptic ointment like Muricoprin. Doing cool compresses can also help in reducing pain..
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
