What Do Rashes On The Neck, Ear And Scalp Indicate?

My son (grown) got some type of paint primer on his neck, ear and scalp. His employer told him to remove it with paint thinner, and he did. But now his skin is very irritated, like a bad sunburn. Despite several showers, it is still irritated. Aloe was applied. I suggested Advil as well. Any suggestions?

Thanks for putting your query over here.
From the scenario you have described it seems your son has got some sort of allergic reaction.
What is the occupation of your son?If he is exposed to certain environmental allergens or chemicals at his workplace ,does he wear any personal protective equipment? Is he on any medications?
Since how many days have he got the rash?
Is there any associated complaint like fever, respiratory or gastrointestinal distress ?If the rash is persistent or he has any associated complaints,it's better to visit a physician as soon as possible.
As you said, tablet avil can be taken, but if rash is persistent,it's severity needs to be assessed and oral steroids need to be given by an expert.
Thanks and regards.
