Thanks for contacting with your health concern
1. As the symptoms are now chronic and consultation with an Internist, a dermatologist has not proven to be much beneficial, thus without being able to examine you directly, I'm of the following opinion:
i. As the symptoms are still persisting and worsening it is best to get a
second opinion from a Dermatologist [since it requires a close physical examination] in accordance with the origin of rash to exclude conditions like
atopic dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, irritant or
allergic contact dermatitis, psoriasis, urticaria.
PS. skin biopsy is best to determine if the symptoms are caused by another skin condition or sometimes direct immunofluorescence test is done for the presence of antibodies.
ii. sometimes in people with
celiac disease [gluten intolerance] similar symptoms do occur and result in a condition called as dermatitis herpertiformis [DH] which is an autoimmune [AI] condition and may occur independently or secondary to other types of AI diseases like
rheumatoid arthritis, vitiligo,
hypothyroidism, Sjogren syndrome.
PS. consult a Gastroenterologist/
Rheumatologist to exclude such causes [if any]
iii. Till you get an appointment, apply fluticasone with mupirocin cream, and take an antihistamine such as loratadine [twice a day]if itching is present and make sure not to pinch/squeeze the area as it may lead to secondary infection.
