What Do Rashes On The Shoulders And Legs Indicate?

I have been taking 15mg Meloxicam each morning for about a week. That is the only different medication or supplement than what I have been on for years. I have been breaking out in a raised rash on my arms between elbows and shoulders and on my legs. This started around 10:00 am and has progressed to the areas described. Could this rash be a side effect of the Meloxicam? My husband is going to Walgreens for Benadryl. Any other suggestions?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

While it is possible that you are reacting to the Meloxicam, it is unlikely as you are developing this rash almost a week after taking the drug.

You could take a cetrizine to help with the rash besides the Benadryl. Use calamine lotion.

Keep an eye on it. If it persists or gets worse, you could get it checked out by your clinician who may or may not prescribe a steroid cream at that point if it is meritted.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
