I have asthma and take my medications regularly (singulair, flonase, ventolin -as needed-, advair, zyrtec). I have a recurring cough with no wheezing for 2 months. I get better for about a week and it comes right back. I have had a round of Prednisone and am currently taking Amoxicillin for a sinus infection. Nothing relieves the cough, not honey, cough suppressants, inhaler or anything else. I feel like it is in my esophagus and mid sternum. When I do produce anything it is clear and thick although the last bout I had a few weeks ago I did produce a fair amount of blood on a few occasions. I am a former smoker (15 years smoke-free) and I am not around smokers anymore. I do have environmental allergies. I had a chest x-ray in the last 6 months that was clear. Any suggestions for the persistent cough? Should I seek medical attention?
