Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Do Recurring Hard Cramps Under The Ribs Suggest?
I have been having severe cramps (only way I can explain them) under my ribs. It can occur on either side. They feel hard as I can push them and they seem to move as I push on them. The center of my rib cage seems tender then. I just had a colonoscopy and it was good. These cramps can occur as I bend over, twist, or sometimes just as I sit. They can last up to 5 minutes at a time. What may be the problem? Just to let you know I am overweight.
The symptoms seem to be related to muscle cramps. I recommend using a muscle relaxant such as Baclofen three times a day. I also suggest using magnesium supplement for muscle relaxation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
