What Do Red Bumps On The Tip Of The Tongue Indicate?

Yes I have had dry mouth for about three or four weeks. I also have two red bumps on the tip of my tongue which really hurts. I went to the doctor to day and he could not tell me what they were and sending me to ent doctor. Do you have any idea what those red bumps are. I can not eat anything hot or spicy. I just hope they are not cancer bumps.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Dry mouth or Xerostomia can cause thinning of mucosa inside mouth, inflammation and the red bumps can be swollen papillae at the tongue tip..

However it does not look like cancerous bumps..

So my suggestion is to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination can be done..

First of all the cause of dry mouth will be ruled out and treated and with this gradually the bumps will also subside..

For now you can manage your dry mouth by chewing sugarfree chewing gums..
Use mouth lubricant like Oralgel..
Drink plenty of water and suck ice pops to reduce inflammation..
For soreness you can gargle with specialised mouthwash like Magic Mouthwash..
Take a Vitamin B complex tablet daily..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
