Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi-I have several children who came in contact with a stray kitten last week. They are all broken out with small red lesions-ringworms, I think. My question is Can other children around these children get this? They have not been around the kitten. Is it contagious? My email is YYYY@YYYY
You are right that this is probably ringworm or tinea. Yes, these lesions are contagious, and so the contact should be prevented while they are being treated. Usually, topical antifungals are enough to cure this, though sometimes oral pills are necessary.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
