What Do Red Particles In Vomit Of An Infant Indicate?
My 2 month old was breastfeeding and when he pulled off he vomited a lightly tinted red with several chunks which im assuming are clots. Afterwards the baby was fine. He was actually smiling and acting normal. His stomach waa not swollen. No fever. My wife has a crack in her nipple (the one she was using at the time of the vomit). How worried should i be?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Better to get evaluated. Some congenital anomalies affecting the stomach and liver may present like these. Consult a Pediatrician and do an abdominal ultrasound and evaluated. Most of often it may be due to small bleeding from cracked nipple.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
