What Do Red Rashes On The Forehead Indicate?

I just had back surgery and am home recuperating. just noticed I have 3 red welts on my forehead. i texted a picture to my daughter and she said it looked like ringworm that one of her sorority sisters had a few years ago. should i go see the doctor or can i just put a topical on it and see if it goes away. i have a post op scheduled for 10/30.
