Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My dad is 70, and as developed large, silver dollar sized red, raised, scaly looking patches on his left forearm, on the underside. He is healthy, and not overweight. What could this be? These patches developed in the last couple months. He is a nurseryman and works outdoors every day. I d like to get some advice on what this could be, and what we could try to get rid of it.
Very likely your dad is having a fungal infection and trying treatment with local antifungals like miconazole cream or Clotrimazole cream twice a day on the lesions and 1-2 cm beyond them might be helpful.
Adding a steroid cream with the antifungal cream 1-2 times a day might help to heal.
If he uses both creams twice a day for 4-5 days and no improvement or if he notices any worsening then he needs to see a doctor to rule out other conditions.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Zotaj Antoneta, General & Family Physician
