What Do Shaking Hands, Voice And Head With History Of Parkinson S In Family Suggest?

Yes, I have had neurological exams that show nothing. My voice shakes when I talk at times; my hands shake and my head moves up and down a little. My father had Parkinson s and a sister has familial tremor of the hands. What type of doctor do I now need to see?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi!
Welcome to HCM!
I can understand your worries.
It is only 15% of individuals with Parkinson's disease have a first-degree relative who has the disease.
At least 5% of people are now known to have forms of the disease that occur because of a mutation of one of several specific genes.

Since you have noticed some of the features of Parkinson's disease and the fact that your father had Parkinson"s and sister with familial tremors you are advised to consult a neurologist for proper assessment and management.

Regards!
