What Do Skin Discoloration And An Indentation On The Hips Indicate?

Just noticed skin discoloration and an indentation in my daughter’s left hip. A couple months ago she had some muscular trouble with her hips and was unable to stand or walk for about a week. Without any real answers from doctors but testing and MRI that all came back OK. Could these things be related this far apart? What could cause this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your description, it seems to be stretch marks which occur due to stretching of skin (due to obesity or pregnancy). It is a skin problem and nothing to do with muscle problem.

If it is not affecting cosmetically, no need to do anything. Otherwise, you can apply 0.1% tretinoin cream 12 hourly over it. Be cautious to prevent exposure of sunlight as it may cause photosensitivity.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
