What Do Small Lumps Around The Vagina Indicate?

I am 56 and and have had small lumps on the outside of my vaginal area before that swell up and get sore and then go away. This time the sore started out pea sized and quickly swelled up and burst open ( puss and blood ) and now is just a dark sore but still swollen . It almost feels better now that it got all that gross stuff out. Usually I would wait for it to go away but this time it was different than ever before.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Based on your description, you had an abscess. This is a localized collection of pus.
Though it burst, it is possible that there may still be a small amount of pus prevent.

The definitive treatment of an abscess is incision and drainage, this means that your doctor should assess make sure that no more pus is present because this can cause reinfection to occur.

Antibiotics are sometimes needed

I hope this helps
