Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter encountered a customer at work that had oozing sores all around the mouth (outside of the mouth) on the lips and on the mouth area. The person kept touching them and then touching items she had to touch. She is worried what that kind of disease she may have been exposed to. Do you have any idea? I figured if it were just herpes, it would not have been around the entire mouth but rather in one spot.
Thanks for using HealthcareMagic
Herpes is the likely an infection.
There are different types of herpes virus but herpes type 1 is the one that most commonly affects the mouth. Hand-washing or the use of a good hand sanitizer would help prevent the spread of most infections.
If your daughter had a chance to do this, then she should be fine.
I hope this helps.
