It is irritating because when I stand it feels swollen on the bottom. there is no discoloration or obvious swelling. There is numbness is in the area but not to my heel or to my toes although the whole foot feels a little tingly.. feels better with shoes on It feels like a small mass but goes down at night if my foot is elevated.. Thanks for contacting with your health concern

1. The most important cause of your symptoms [paresthesia of toes] could be direct compression of the nerves of the foot from footwear or shoes or due to high uric acid.

2. wearing hard insole which put enormous pressure on the foot may also lead to bunion formation, as a result, underlying tissue becomes inflamed and painful.

PS. In addition to above cause, one may exclude simultaneously: nerve damage [neuropathy], high uric acid, or any poor circulation to the foot [any peripheral vascular disease/diabetes]

3. It is important to consult with Orthopedic surgeon/Podiatrist to prevent further or long-term damage since failure to do so can lead to disability, paralysis, permanent symptoms of pain and numbness.
