Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My tongue seems to be getting larger and it is always slammed against the roof of my mouth and creates soreness. This has been going on for a long time. I am unable to stay in a relaxed position for any length of time. My guess is stress, except I have no stress. I have always been tense and used to brux my teeth. Bruxing problem has been resolved by using edible marijuana before bed. I think I am chewing on my tongue as mt is sore in the morning
Swelling of tongue can be due to a number of causes and the most common one is allergic reaction caused by a number of irritants like foods or medication, environmental irritants etc..
Secondly if the swelling or enlargement of tongue is not fluctuant and is persistent then it can be due to causes like Amyloidosis, thyroid problems etc..
So my suggestion is to consult an Emergency room or an Oral Physician and get evaluated..
Treatment can depend on underlying cause..
If it is allergic reaction then ruling out the cause of allergy can help along with taking anti allergics and a steroid shot.. For soreness of tongue you can gargle with Lidocaine mouthwash, suck ice pops and do warm saline gargles.. Avoid spicy and irritant foods..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
