What Do Swelling And Rash Around An Abscess Indicate?

prior to what i have going on i was healthy no issues , i recently had an abcess drained and treated upon my release from hospital i began my cycle of antibiotics on same day had a reaction nothing to serious but the day after rash got bad an started to swell when i went to follow up i told Dr. he told me to stop using and prescribed a different one , rash and swelling continued i believe it takes a few days for swelling and rash to go away but wife thinks its something more . any info would help cause im in the dark never had any issues in my 44 years so dont know if i should go back to E.R.

it depends on what antibiotic you are taking
many people are sensitive to a few antibiotics like penicillin and other groups
from your question it looks like you have allergy to that perticular antibiotic so I would recommend you to discontinue the antibiotics and get your self prescribed another one
if the rash still persist take a steroid shot( hydrocortisone 100 mg ) one dose
and tab cetrizine one at night

apply some local ointment on your wound like betadine
