What Do Swelling And Tenderness On The Tip Of The Toes Indicate?

I m trying to figure out what a tenderness and swelling is at tip (not joint) of my long second toe next to big toe - not bumped, nor stepped on glass, has happened before, goes on a week (or about ten days now) with some relief from ibuprofen (my father had some gout attacks)

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Pain in the fingers can be related to arthritis, trauma, infection.

Arthritis is the most common cause. Gout is one form/type of arthritis, other types include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthrits, lupus etc.

If it continues to recur, you may need to see your doctor to determine the cause, blood tests and imaging would be needed to find the cause of the arthritis.

Anti inflammatory pain medication such as naproxen, ibuprofen, can be helpful

I hope this helps
