Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Do Swollen Lymph Nodes In The Armpits And Groin Area Indicate?
Hello, hope you are well. survived NHL in 2002, when I was forty. Small cleaved follicular, in a clinical remission after two months with Retuxan. Now at 56, I had a clean bill of health CT, and my doctor called me and said the scan showed very slightly enlarged lymph nodes under both arms and in my groin, not even a millimeter in size.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
They are clinically insignificant nodes and are normal variant. The lymph nodes are considered significant only when they are larger than 5 mm. As of now nothing to be done and no treatment is required. You can go for a follow up scan after three months and check whether the size has increased or not. If it increasing in size, you can go for an ultrasound guided biopsy to rule out lymphoma.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks.
