What Do Swollen Lymph Nodes On The Jawline Indicate?

MYseventeen year old daughter has a swollen are on her lower right jawline. It has been there for two weeks. We went to urgent care and was told it could be a salvary gland or possibly an irritated lymph node. She does have her wisdom teeth but her dentist doesnt think it is because of those. She has also been having what she calls hot flashes where she gets warm, sweats a little. She has had some pain in the area but just one day. No fever. We went to see her dentist today and also have a consult with oral surgeon next week. Should we go to ENT instead? Looking for some direction and not getting any results.

Hello,

As per your query, you have symptoms of swollen lymph nodes on the jawline which seems to be obstruction of the salivary gland, septicemia and it is due to travel of infection into facial spaces from an infected tooth. Need not to worry. I would suggest you-
-Maintain complete oral hygiene.
-Do betadine gargles.
-Suck on lemons juice.
-Take a diet rich in soft food.
-Take anti-inflammatory drugs such as Levocetirizine along with a proper course of antibiotics.
-Visit oral physician once and get it examined.
-Go for X-ray of that particular quadrant and start treatment accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
