What Do Swollen Tonsils Mean?

I have red vains on and around my tonsils and on the soft plate of my mouth my left tonsil is swollen and has white around both sides of my tonsils. My left side is sore to where. When I swallow I feel slight pain in my ear. I have been very week and felt like I had a bad cold. The cold feels. Like it s almost over but I m still pretty weak. What could cause this and is there anything I can do at home to heal it ?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is the case of tonsillitis and the white around the tonsil is the peri tonsillar abcess. so first of use antibiotics like Ciprofloxacin and for pain use simple Paracetamol or Mefenamic acid for a week. Also try to avoid spicy and oily food. Don't drink cold drinks or alcohol and use little warm water for drinking. At bed time use gargles for mouth wash.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
