What Do The Blood Levels Indicate?

Yes, thank you. I recently underwent a complete thyroidectomy in which a parathyroid gland was also removed during the surgery. I was looking over my blood tests done in Pre-OP and some of my blood levels were off slightly. Bicarbonate was a little high at 36 mEq/mL ; GFR Calc was a little low at 60 mL/min/1.73m2 ; BUN (what is this?) was topped at 22mg/dL ; PTT was a little high at 38 seconds; and Platelet was slightly high at 407.0 10^3/cmm. What does this mean for my health? What do I need to do to help this?

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

You have gone thorough thyroidectomy. And pre operation profile work up shows this results.

Slight high bicarbonate has nothing to worry.

GFR suggest kidney function test and it is at low normal level. BUN is blood urea nitrogen and it is slight high which correlate with slight drop in kidney function test. Platelet count of 407 is normal and nothing to worry about that.

In my opinion you should repeat kidney function test after 2 weeks. If it comes to normal then nothing to worry. If it remains altered then further investigations are needed to search the cause.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer.
