Hello, my daughter is 17 yrs old and a cross country and track runner. One year ago she began having symptoms that woke her up from her sleep. She was nauseous, lost all of the color in her face and hands, her face looked stroke-like and she could not speak. Her arms and legs became contracted and her HR was 150. She has had an EEG which was normal, brain CT and MRI which were normal and and echo which showed a small ASD with left to right shunt. She continues to have periodic episodes. Sometimes when she runs, when she sleeps, when she drives, in school etc...so no specific setting. These episodes last anywhere from 1-2 hrs. The only thing that has helped is ativan to calm her in the ER. Could an ASD left to right shunt induce these symptoms with her face getting numb, SOB, and mainly arms contractions?
