What Do The Following Test Result Values Suggest?

Hi, I am 43 years old. I did my routine health checkup and the results were normal for CBC, Urine Culture and Thyroid. However my LFT levels are SGPT 92,SGOPT 46 and ALP 150 and Bilburn total was 1.18. My Lipid profile result was Cholestrol 201,Triglyceride 250. Sugar Fasting was 78 and KFT Creatinine was 1.18. My Doctor has said there is nothing to worry but i need to change my life style and has given me Ursokem 150 twice daily and Tonact EZ. What is the reason of high SGPT? Please advise if the above medications are ok and is there anything to change or consider.

Hi,
Thanks for writing to HCM.
The following things can be concluded from your reports you have shared.
1. In LFT, Serum bilirubin and SGOT are borderline high, whereas SGPT is about 2 and 1/2 times higher. This is indicative of liver dysfunction. It could be caused due to intake of certain drugs. Or it is due to alcohol induced injury to liver. It could also be due to fatty changes taking place in the liver due to altered lipid profile.
2. In Lipid Profile, Cholesterol and Triglycerides is definitely high.
3. Fasting blood sugar and Creatinine is normal.
Hence, what the doctor advised medications is alright and you need to take them as prescribed. He has also suggested life style modifications.
Hence, in addition, you need to decrease your lipid levels in the form of diet and exercise. Do not consume oily and high calorie refined carbohydrate foods. You need to totally avoid junk.
You need to go regularly for brisk walk for 40 minutes (20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening), which would be the best exercise to burn your excess calories.
Kindly get your LFT and Lipid Profile checked after 6 months and look for the improvement.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
Wish you all the best.
