What Do The Presence Of Abnormal Cells In Urine Analysis Report Indicate?

My husband has abnormal cells showing up in his urine analysis. They have just done a cystoscope test four months ago, and diagnosed him with a kidney stone in an area of his kidney where it is not an immediate health concern. This morning he received another call from the urologist saying abnormal cells were showing up again in his urine. They want to do another cystoscope. Is this necessary so soon?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Appearance of abnormal cells in urine analysis report indicates that your husband may be suffering from chronic infection of bladder or infection of the kidneys. He needs to undergo following investigations:
1. Cystoscopy.
2. Ultrasound abdomen and pelvis to look for abnormalities in kidneys and urinary tract.
Based on the findings, proper treatment can be instituted. You need to consult Urologist for appropriate management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
